eFootball 2027. Coins. Oh my god. Have you played the new season, opened a "Big Time Signing" card only to find yourself with a glorious 40 Coins and the price listed on the pack being something significantly more than 40 Coins? Of course you have. I am here to discuss all manner of ways to earn Coins - and the expensive mistakes I've made in the process.

First, the boring stuff: Coins vs. GP.

You know this. I know this. Half my group chat still mixes them up. Humour me.

GP is what you earn by winning matches, playing events. You will get millions of GP if you play regularly. It is the "common" currency and the one you will accumulate in great quantities.

Coins are the premium currency, the ones you buy with real-life money - they tend to be required for the big featured packs, select shop promotions and, occasionally, to renew a contract for a card you refused to sell (RIP my 2022 Iniesta, I kept that man alive for years).

The aim as a free-to-play player is to save your coins, to spend your GP like a lottery winner.

Write that on a sticky note. Tape it to your monitor. I'm serious.

1. Achievements are the big free money source.

You know, dig into the Achievements menu. The hundreds of achievement icons in there? They're pretty much all play X matches, score X goals, score with a header, win a penalty shootout, build a squad with players from the same league, reach a particular team strength, etc. You probably complete a good chunk of them just by playing, but there's a good chance you have quite a few achievement points waiting for you to claim in that menu.

I discovered this the hard way: a couple of months into the season, I actually took the time to look through the achievements menu properly, and claimed a nice 800 unclaimed Coins in one sitting. Eight hundred. Sitting there. Like finding a twenty in an old jacket, but the jacket was in your house the whole time and you've been moaning about being broke.

My tip is to make it a Sunday thing: grab a coffee, open the Achievements tab, scroll through the whole lot, and tap everything with a little glowing badge. Takes four minutes.

2. Logging in.

Yes, it's the most obvious piece of advice in the world, but eFootball has a habit of giving login bonuses, especially around anniversary/season launch dates or if Konami feels charitable.

It won't take you five minutes: just open it, claim the thing, close it again. I do it while the kettle is boiling. Thirty seconds. Some of the best Coin rewards I've ever had were as a "sorry for the inconvenience" compensation after a server hiccup. Nothing sweeter than finding a few free Coins in your message inbox: the server was down for six hours and thanks, Konami, genuinely.

3. Tour Events and Challenge Events are well worth it

Every week, there is something in there that you can do while a Tour or Challenge event is live. Beat a series of COM teams, play with special conditions, seasonal stuff tied to real-world fixtures.

Some of these pay out in GP, players, and training programmes; a fair number of them feature a Coin reward in the completion tiers tied to a big campaign or anniversary.

The advice here is not to delay: I once saved a whole Tour event to play on the weekend, and ended up busy, watching it expire with 300 Coins on the table. I was so annoyed, I went and played Matchday angrily for two hours and lost every game. Great evening.

If an event has a difficulty setting, the Coin rewards don't change between Superstar and Legend, only the GP does. If you're playing for Coins specifically, play a difficulty where you're not going to rage-quit. Protect your blood pressure.

4. Matchday and eFootball League rewards.

Matchday is that big community thing where you pick a side and the entire player base brawls it out, and the rewards scale with how much you contribute and whether your team wins.

In all honesty, I used to ignore Matchday because the contribution system seemed a bit opaque and I'm impatient. Then one weekend I actually committed, played my matches, backed the right team on a hunch, and the payout was genuinely worth it. Now I plan around it.

Same with climbing Divisions in online league play: promotion rewards and end-of-season placement rewards are real. Even if you're not a Division 1 god (I am extremely not), just grinding up from the bottom gives you a steady trickle of rewards.

5. Get the "legit cheap" Coins: reward apps

If you're an Android user, you have Google Opinion Rewards. It gives you Play Store credit for answering little surveys. It takes ten seconds each. "Did you visit this restaurant?" Tap, tap, tap. Over a few months, that credit adds up, and you can spend it directly on a Coin pack.

Microsoft Rewards does something similar if you're on Xbox or you just use Bing for searches (I know, I know - but free is free). I bought a decent Coin pack last season entirely with survey credit. Cost me actual money: zero pounds. Cost me in dignity: answering roughly ninety questions about supermarket visits. Worth it.

6. If you're going to spend - spend smart

No judgment here. I've spent money on this game. Most of us have.

I have a couple of rules:

Never spend on the smallest pack. The value per Coin is always worse. If you're spending, the only sensible options are the mid or large tiers.

Wait for the double-bonus periods. Konami sometimes runs "first purchase bonus" or seasonal campaigns where you get a chunk of extra Coins. Buying outside those windows is just donating.

Decide what you're pulling for BEFORE you buy. This is the big one. The number of times I've bought Coins "to have them" and then impulse-pulled on a random pack at midnight... let's just say I have a 95-rated right back I have literally never used.

7. Please. For the love of god, avoid any Coin generators.

You will see sites and YouTube videos promising you free eFootball Coins. Enter your ID, complete a "human verification", and you get 10,000 Coins, but they don't work.

They've never worked. Premium currency is handled server-side and there is no magic website that can inject Coins into your account. What these sites actually do is steal your account information, feed you malware, or walk you through doing a survey farm that pays them.

A boy in my old Discord lost a four-year-old account to one of these scams. Four years. All his favourite cards, gone, and Konami support (reasonably) wasn't sympathetic because he'd handed over his credentials himself. Don't be that guy: there is no shortcut worth that.

My actual weekly routine, if you want to copy it

Because I think examples beat theory:

Daily (2 mins): log in, claim bonus, check if a new event dropped.

Daily (20-30 mins): a few online matches for Division progress and whatever event objectives are active.

Weekly: clear any Tour/Challenge event before it expires. Sweep the Achievements tab.

Monthly-ish: cash in whatever Play Store credit I've accumulated, but only if there's a bonus campaign running.

Always: sit on my Coins until a card I genuinely want appears. There's a difference between a card that's good and a card I want.

The thing that made eFootball for me was accepting that I'm not going to out-pull the people spending real money, and that's completely fine. Some of my best squads have been GP-built, Epic-card, weird-formation nonsense that absolutely should not work - but does, because I know how to use them.

Coins are a tool. The fun part is the football.
